Hygiene is particularly important in times of corona. Everyone has internalized the importance of washing hands and wearing a mask, but what additional rules must apply to film sets?
The first shoots start again. It is important not to just pick up where we left off. Hygiene must now be in focus. I came across a really great course from Safe Sets International. It seems banal to make a course on hygiene measures, but besides regular hand washing and keeping your distance, there is more to consider in order to guarantee the highest possible safety for every department.

For example the handling of walkie-talkies or microphones. Lavalier microphones must be placed close to the body, while the boom pole can keep sufficient distance. Or that certain departments have to spend their shooting breaks on the set will also be (temporarily) abolished. When shooting indoors, the number of people is limited and a replacement place has to be created. Best is an option outside or in a tent in bad weather conditions. Catering must also be corona-friendly and meal breaks must be many small ones instead of one big one.
These are all just small points. The normal workflow on set has to be broken up and the focus should be on the health of all crew members and not on a production that is as time and cost efficient as possible. These are steps that may finally lead to better working conditions on set, even outside of Covid-19.
